Wellington Music Education Trust’s (WMET) purpose is to facilitate music outreach and education in the greater Wellington region. We run solely on private donations and pre-loved instrument donations. No government funding is received.
We are proud supporters of the Piccolo Bass programme, designed to bring bass playing to schools. Our role is to supply affordable, quality instruments to students, offer financial assistance to those in need or demonstrating outstanding ability, and organise performance opportunities, amongst others.
We aim to connect people through music and provide young New Zealanders with tools that will serve them for a lifetime.
Piccolo Bass ("Little Bass")
Piccolo Bass is a school outreach programme based in Wellington. Our team encourages the highest level of music making in a secure, creative and supportive environment. Our students have access to high quality instruments and lessons with internationally acclaimed music teachers. We partner with schools to promote the double bass and create engaging education and performance opportunities.
